MIA

I apologize, but I will probably be pretty MIA this week as my thesis is due this week and I am frantically attempting to balance that with applying to job deadlines which are April 1, and of course, a super busy time at work.

Reese

Yesterday Reese Witherspoon celebrated her 35th birthday. Reese is absolutely one of my favorite actresses.  She always looks so classy and put together, and I adore all of her movies.  Rumor has it she is also very down to earth, and even calls J. Crew personally to order clothes.  (Side note:  I once bought a pair of J. Crew flats because I saw a picture of Reese in them.  They're now one of my favorite pairs.)

I looked for a dress like this for months for a sorority formal.  I love everything about this look!

Adore this set.  Wish I could turn in my thesis with a glitter cover.  And glitter every page.

Weekend Recap, Tumblr, Matchbook Magazine

I hope everyone had a fabulous weekend!  Friday included trying a new shellac manicure, watching the Michigan game with my friend N, and an evening fish fry at the Greek Orthodox church a few miles from home.  It was wonderful to watch the little kids dancing to the Greek music, and to have Greek pastries with our fish and fries!

Saturday included shopping, a quiet dinner at home of steak, gnocchi, and brussels sprouts while watching my alma mater progress to the Sweet 16.  The bf makes me so nervous when we watch college sports--I think he paced for the entire second half.  I also fell more than a little in love with tumblr while "watching" the game.  I joined a few months ago, but just started looking at it this weekend.  Tell me if you have a tumblr--I'd love to follow more people!

This weekend I was able to catch up with the latest issue of Matchbook Magazine, and of course was obsessed with many articles, especially the Camelot pages.

Anything Jackie O. inspired is always perfect in my book. ;)

Mini Makeover

I will admit it--I am really stressed about my upcoming deadlines for my thesis.  My paper is due to my committee on the last day of March, and I present April 15.  Of course I have many more "to-dos" before I am able to start writing.  Obviously, this means I had to give my blog a mini-makeover, make brownies, and do laundry last night.  When I was in undergrad and had a lot due, my room often got cleaned, or my many loads of laundry done.  Anything to put off doing the big projects.  I think it's also nice to feel control over your environment when so many other issues you may not be able to control.

I apologize in advance if I'm not able to pop over to each of your blogs as often during the next month.  In addition to my thesis, this is also the busy season at work, and I'm also attempting to find a new job for post-graduation.

What do you do for stress relief?  What do you think of the mini-makeover? ;)

Pink & Green Blooms

Today's rain has me dreaming of spring and warmer weather.  One of the very best perks about warm weather are all of the gorgeous blooms.  The cover of Midwest Living (one of my mom's favorite magazines) got me very excited about peonies.

The Windy City

I had a beyond fabulous time in Chicago.  The bf is from a Chicago suburb, so we got in a day early and stayed with his parents before taking the train downtown.

Of course we had to stop by Dunkin Donuts for coffee for the train.

We stayed at Hotel Palomar, and it was perfect.  Its a boutique hotel, and they were even able to let us go up to our room at 10:30 in the morning when we first got there.  I was tres impressed. ;)  The pool was gorgeous and overlooked the city.

After checking in, we were off for our first meal--lunch at Quartino's.  We have actually been to Quartino's before for a late-night pizza and drinks, but the lunch was even better. 

 

We spent the afternoon walking around, enjoying the architecture, and of course, a little bit of shopping. ;)

These blush champagne flutes from Crate & Barrel may need to be ordered soon, and that couch is absolutely perfect.

We were surprised once we got back to the hotel with champagne for our anniversary!

We met up with my bestie and her bf, and after drinks and appetizers at Sable (and more than a couple songs to dance to in our room), we were off to Kingston Mines for live music.

 The rest of the weekend included dinner at a fabulous BBQ restaurant, Chicago Q, much more shopping (including this fabulous new jacket), and of course, time with my bestie!
