Manic Monday

Somehow life lately has been an absolutely wonderful whirlwind! It seems when one part of life becomes busy, everything else does too.  Between some major work events, Junior League, (we just released next year's leadership and I am a project chair--so excited!), wedding planning, some trip prep for a long Memorial Day and a trip to Minnesota for nephew M's Christening, as well as life in general I have neglected my little bloggie!

Get to see this precious baby boy in June.

So on another Manic Monday I thought I'd share some pics from life lately, mainly found on my Instagram. . .

Not that new of a picture, but I'm really really working on getting back into yoga.  I was hoping a trip to Lululemon would give me the motivation I needed.

A few weeks ago, I hosted a dessert party for SHS' birthday complete with a peeps cake.

And bourbon.

I feel like I've been writing many many letters lately.

Including some on my new engaged thank you cards courtesy of Targey.

I've been wearing a lot of glitter nail polish.

I have become majorly obsessed with making coffee in my French press.  Also super busy = way too much coffee.

Beautiful flowers from the family helped Spring-ify home.

My new obsession: rainbow-colored fruit layered in cocktail glasses.

And a few weekends were spent on my long hallway, first painting the walls and doors and having SHS help hang my chandelier. . .

Then completing my gallery wall last weekend.
Which required a lot of pre-hanging prep on the living room floor.

But I did have a chance to kick my feet up. . .

And enjoy some trail mix popcorn with the new Lilly catalogue.

And have an impromptu date night with SHS lately.

What have you been up to lately?

Wedding Wednesday: Bachelorette Plans

So today's Ruelala bridal boutique proved to be too hard to resist, and I ended up with a few little things that I hope to wear for my bachelorette party (which isn't planned yet).  I'm currently torn between a warm weather trip to Miami in February/March or a trip to NYC in later March/April.  As my bridesmaids and friends live across the country, my goal is to get a location and general time set soon so people will have plenty of time to plan.

But of course I'm more interested in details like whether I'll be able to incorporate one of my new fascinators into my outfit. . .

And I can't wait to rock this gorgeous lace ABS number.

What have been some of the best bachelorette parties you've been to?  Where are you going or where would you hope to go?

Revenge is Finally Back!

Just like so many others, I adored Revenge when it premiered this fall.  After such a long wait, I am so excited to have it back on tonight and see what is going to happen in the aftermath of Victoria's Fire and Ice party and what exactly Daniel knows.  These pictures may also serve as inspiration for future Memorial Day/4th of July/Labor Day parties, although mine may be of a slightly smaller scale.

Will you be tuning in?

Will You Be My Bridesmaid?

I am honored to have so many wonderful friends in my life.  When it came time to ask my besties to be in my bridal party, I knew I wanted to do something a bit more me than calling and popping the question.

First, I wanted to get pretty cards to enclose in the packages.  I found wonderful ones on etsy.
I bought these from Jenuine Paper on Etsy.

I already have my mom collecting vintage hankies for the wedding (which I may monogram with our initials and or the date if I'm feeling super ambitious) for the ceremony.  I am known as a crier, so as a partial nod to that and our vintage style, we're doing a basket for happy tears that our guests can take prior to the ceremony.  I wanted something special for my girls, so I bought hankies that were monogrammed with their initial for each of them.

I bought mini bottles of champagne for the girls as well.

I used navy and white tissue (our wedding colors) with silver star garland and lots of ribbon.  I stamped large gift tags with a new chandelier stamp and wrote the messages on the other side.

All my packages, ready to go to my friends all over the country!  I loved decorating them all with my Lilly stickers and labels.

I can't wait to be surrounded by my amazing friends during all of the wedding preparations and festivities.  Did you ask your friends in any special way? If you've been a bridesmaid or MOH already, what was your favorite part of your special role?

A Video Worth Ten Minutes

I have been crazy busy lately, but yesterday SHS sent me a video and said it was worth a ten minute break to read the story here and watch the video.  Boy was he right.

Amazing.

The Drama Years

Yesterday on Today with Kathie Lee and Hoda (Hoda was out in case you were wondering), there was a fascinating story on The Drama Years, life for girls in middle school.  I do a lot of work with young girls and it can be heartbreaking to hear from many adolescent girls about self-esteem and pressures they face.

One important aspect of this story that is missing is that adult role models can really change the outlook and reinforce positive messages for young girls.  Make sure you hug a girl today, and tell her she's special and wonderful, as all of you are as well.
