One Week! Eeeeeeeeek!

Can you tell someone is excited for Spring Break?!  I can't wait to have a week off from a VERY busy semester as well as for a break from all this snow.

I found this photo of the same Vera Bradley duffle I have--I love it since it's very lightweight.  I add enough to my bag that I don't need anything heavy to begin with!

I've started to plan my outfits (who am I kidding, I've been "planning" for weeks!), and am feeling like I am just about set.

I'm trying out Polyvore...

Outfit 1--plane ride early in the morning.  (Love the idea of comfortable cropped pants for the plane--they look like nice pants, but feel like leggings.)

Featuring the Lilly Harper Dress!

Outfit 2--Cirque du Soleil's LOVE (and changing into heels for the night out)

Outfit 3--Shopping! :)

Outfit 4--Palms for the night!  (Can't wait to wear my new dress!)

Outfit 5--Sightseeing around Vegas (but with a different tunic.)

Outfit 6--Another night out

And I will bring a few extra tops, a swimsuit and cover up (although it will probably not be warm enough), and some cardigans and wraps for when it gets cold at night.

Do you plan out all of your outfits for trips or are you more likely to pack lots in hopes they'll all work together?  (What I usually do!)

New Vegas Dress!

Today, the bf and I braved the snowstorm that has taken over Ohio and ran some much needed errands.  We're leaving for our Spring Break trip to Las Vegas next week, but he is going to Minnesota this week for a law school competition.

I have had a CRAZY week this week and last with FOUR papers and a presentation as well as starting my new job!  I am in desperate need of a break and I can't wait to be able to wear skirts and dresses without tights.

Although I have more than enough dresses and skirts, I wanted something new for my trip.  I also was looking for something a little more sexy than what I normally wear.  I bought a great new pair of ankle-length Paige skinny jeans on Thursday night and today found a BEAUTIFUL black dress at Nordstrom Rack!

Here is the dress.  The picture doesn't do it justice.  I think it's so versatile as well, and nothing can beat finding a great item on sale. ;)

Here's another picture of the same top, but in a gorgeous green.  I'm thinking this may be a great choice for the law school ball for graduating students this May!  (The bf is graduating, I'm getting my Master's and won't be done for another year.)

Anyone going anywhere warm sometime soon?  And do you buy new items for vacation or try to pack what you own and save your money for shopping on your trip?

Sex and the City

There are a few movies that make me miss my girlfriends who do not live close to me.  One of these movies (and television series) is Sex and the City.  Many of my best college memories are watching episodes of SATC with my sorority sisters in the lounge, all wearing sweats. :)

I LOVED the first movie, and had the pleasure of going on opening night with my GORGEOUS friend L.  L and I made a night out of it and dressed up and headed out to happy hour before seeing the movie.  It was such a special night, and one of my favorite memories of living in D.C.

I am very VERY excited to see the second movie, and am fortunate enough to have met some new WONDERFUL girlfriends through my graduate program.  I'm planning on organizing a girls' night out where we can all dress up and go out for a few cosmos before seeing the movie on opening night!

Are you a SATC fan?  Are you excited to see the second movie?

Team Blair

I love a few TV shows, but NOTHING compares to my all-time favorite, GOSSIP GIRL!

I like most of the characters, but no one comes close to Queen B.  It definitely made my night when a guy told me I looked like Blair a few weekends ago!  (I do, however, realize this may not be the case!)  It has been so long since there has been a new episode, that I thought I'd share a few of my favorite photos...

Perfect red coat, even better tartan flats!

I never realized how similar B and S's shoes are in this one.  I love watching their relationship change and grow, and do love Serena's hair.

B doing a scene from one of my favorite movies, Breakfast at Tiffany's?  Yes, please.

This was my facebook picture for awhile, love the hat, ADORE the mint green dress.  And Chuck has come A LOOOOOONG way since the shaggy hair of the early days.

And I saved the BEST one for last!  Who can forget this memorable scene?

Jubilee Tunic

I was so excited to come home from work on Friday to see that my Lilly Pulitzer Jubilee tunic I had ordered from Rue La La had arrived!  I had been DROOLING over it on ebay, but didn't often see it come up in my size (and NEVER for a good deal).  I was so excited that it was included in the Rue La La sale this week!

Seeing this picture makes me so excited to wear it with white jeans once it gets warm out!  Since the high today was 35 degrees (and that felt so warm!), it will be awhile until it's warm enough to wear white jeans and sandals.

Here's hoping! :)

Quote of the Day

"If you don't like the way the world is, you change it. You have an obligation to change it. You just do it one step at a time."

By the esteemed Marian Wright Edelman.  If you are unfamiliar with her, you are doing a great disservice to yourself if you do not read about her as well as The Children's Defense Fund here.

I had the great privilege of working with the CDF last summer, and it was one of the most rewarding and worthwhile experiences of my life.  Everyone I encountered cared so much for making a difference in the lives of children that it continues to motivate my work in graduate school today.

Spring Break Swimsuits!

I can't believe I'll be in Las Vegas in two and a half weeks!  Although the weather there may not be very warm, I did choose to stay at the Bellagio, at least in part, for the beautiful pool!

In the hopes that it could be warm enough, I wanted a new swimsuit!

I've loved this Lilly Pulitzer "Rita" one-piece for awhile, and found it on sale at The Pink Crab!  I know many of my friends only wear bikinis, but I think one pieces are always SO flattering, and they can make people look like vintage movie stars.  The Rita is wonderful because it has such classic styling and would look great with a large hat!  (Which I try to wear due to my fair complexion.)

This is the Seaspray Halter Top currently at LP

And cute Beachy Brief  to match!

I ordered the Rita today and will have to go into Lilly to try on the two piece--I think they're much harder to buy online!  The bottoms don't look nearly as high on the model online...

Any thoughts on swimsuits?  Do you prefer one pieces or bikinis?  Anyone going anywhere warm soon? :)

The Bachelor

Well, I have no idea how I became so addicted to HORRENDOUS television, but I love love love The Bachelor.  Tonight after a very long day of paper writing and presenting in class, I came home and watched the corniest show on earth while eating some of the best turkey meatloaf in the world with a glass of wine with the lovely bf.

Here's the recipe for the meatloaf!

Turkey Meatloaf

And I don't even like meatloaf.  I also had wonderful roasted asparagus (my FAVORITE way to cook veggies!) and spicy cheesy rice--which is brown rice with a bit of cheese (whatever is in the fridge), chipotle peppers in adobo sauce that has been in the food processor, and some salt and pepper.

Olympics!

I love watching the olympics, and the Ralph Lauren USA uniforms are WONDERFUL.  I love RL and shawl collars...

Hope everyone had a great Valentine's Day weekend!

Cleaning Frenzy

I know I am very fortunate to have a "dressing room."  I live in a two-bedroom apartment, and the second bedroom was originally going to be my personal girly space.  It started as an air mattress on the floor, and has come to include a very full garment rack, couch, nightstand, dresser, and lots of pictures and lamps.  This room could be heaven, if only there was enough room for my clothes.

You see, I have a bit of a shopping problem.  And clothes have so much sentimental value, that I have a VERY difficult time donating them, even if I haven't worn them in awhile.  I know that many experts say that if it's been six months, toss it, but I have so many fun dresses that're just WAITING for a special event with tags on them, and these lovelies have often come to my rescue when I suddenly don't have a thing to wear.

So I brought up my three LARGE storage tubs up from my basement storage, and my goal is to go through them all before my big Valentine's Day party on Saturday.

I got on a bit of a roll last night after seeing Crazy Heart (really good movie, by the way!), and started cleaning the office (I also keep waaaaaaaaaay too many papers).  I always get into the mood to clean when it's just not the right time--like at midnight.  So today, I already started doing laundry, and am attempting to make my "closet" look a little bit more like Jenna Lyons'.

Jillian

So my friend suggested that we start Jillian Michael's 30 Day Shred together two weeks ago.  She had the DVD and invited me over to work out.  After a very difficult and hilarious 20 minutes, I felt quite accomplished.  I ended up working out EVERYDAY for the next week.  I haven't worked out seven days in a row since high school sports.  And even then, may have taken a weekend day off.

After I gave myself a day off, things rapidly started going downhill.  Lately Jillian has been calling my name, but I haven't been motivated enough to change into my workout gear and get the very short workout done.   So I am now in my workout gear and have to get my butt moving!  Wish me luck!

I want to watch The Biggest Loser tonight, but always feel guilty watching it if I haven't worked out, so there's my motivation!

Spring Wish List

Now that the stores all have their resort/Spring 2010 apparel, I am DROOLING over so many lovely things!

My current wish list:

Roe One Shoulder Striped Top

This would be so fun for a night out!  (Maybe for my upcoming Spring Break trip to Vegas?!)

Metallic Top-Siders

Wouldn't these be a great update to the classic Top-sider?  I love my tan leather ones, but these could be spunky with my "going to class" duds.

I also do need some new jeans...and have been trying to embrace the "skinny jeans"--I have a few pairs and I find that I'm actually wearing them more than my trusty boot cuts!

I always love 7s...

Stretch Straight Legs

Tory Kayla Sandals

Sorry the picture isn't very clear, but these are sooooo cute!  I keep seeing chunkier heels and they've been growing on me.

Burberry Printed Slingback

Who doesn't love a cute flat?  These are even on sale and the slingback makes me yearn for warmer weather!  (Which won't happen here until April...)

Hope everyone has a wonderful Monday!

XOXO

First Post!

I was hoping to start blogging for 2010, but then was afraid it'd be too cliche.  Then I was going to start with a new semester, but haven't yet started.  So today's the day!  My first post!
