Hair Conundrum

I have had a pretty similar long-ish layered haircut for at least the past seven years except for the incident where I had more than a couple inches chopped in a "trim" or the brief stint with blunt bangs.  Lately this has me itching to try something new.

Some hair inspiration to get us all thinking:

And then last night I watched this week's episode of RHONJ, and I was further determined I need to mix it up in my hair department when I saw Jacqueline using a clipless curling iron.  For background, my hair is naturally curly, but a use a traditional 1 to 1.5" curling iron most weekdays.

I've heard great things about the sultra bombshell, but am not sure I can get the hang of it, and that the results are much better than my trusty ol' Revlon.  Have you used a clipless curling iron?  I need some new hair tricks.  What about hot rollers?  Is it a bad idea or a very very bad idea to dye my hair for the first time ever a few weeks before engagement pictures?

  1. I was in the same boat you were. I had a wedding I had to attend last week and wanted to try something different with my hair. I purchased the Goody Wave Creator Curling Iron from Target and it's probably even better than the curling wand. It was so simple and I loved it!

  2. LOVE the first pic of Lauren Conrad's hair!
Only wish I could style it like that though...

  3. I'm a fan of hot rollers, though I need to get myself a new set. I usually use a 1 inch Hot Tools curling iron to curl my hair and then rake my fangles through it (see today's fashion post for how it ends up looking). I actually use a tutorial from The Beauty Department for how I curl. And maybe highlights instead of all-out dying?

  4. Love love love Lauren Conrad's hair. I have long hair and have pretty much worn it the same way for the past few years. I've been curling it a few times but after a few hours it goes back to being super straight. =(

  5. I wish I could do wavy hair! My hair is so straight that it's flat/straight within minutes of curlers, etc.

  6. Beautiful curls! (From your instagram photo, it looks like you've mastered it already Miss!) I recently bought a new curling iron with a rotating barrel and immediately returned it after one use...my hair kept slipping out. I may have to try rollers to mix up my usual curling iron routine. :)
