Wedding Wednesday: Bachelorette Advice Needed

I am beyond excited to be going to New York City in just over a month and a half for my bachelorette party.  We're staying in a hotel on the Upper East Side, and our themed night is glitter and sequins!  I have ordered a few dresses already and can't wait for them to arrive and hope one of them works out beautifully.

So here's where you come in.  I need a little advice to pass along to my maid of honor and bridesmaids, and since so many of you (JGIWC, Blair's Head Band, Life Through Preppy Glasses, MCW) live/d in the wonderful city, or have been often, I wanted to get some insider tips.

Are there any New York stops we can't miss?  Shopping?  Dinner?  Going out?

Any great sequin finds lately?

  1. I love going through my daily reads and discovering I'm "tagged" in a post! :)

Any and all of your bridesmaids/moh/you are welcome to email blairsheadband at gmail for major details.

Where on the UES are you staying? I live on the UES so have lots of suggestions!

    - The Met. DUH. They have a bar on the rooftop. It is my favorite view in Manhattan. Technically there is no "entrance" fee to get into the museum so pay what you wish to get inside. On the roof, I think cocktails are $13 and wine/beer is less than that. I highly recommend just to get amazing city/park views. Check times on their site but this is a magical place at sundown or even mid afternoon.

    - Skip C. Wonder at all costs (it's downtown, but it's still on the prepster circuit). It's in SoHo, but if you're uptown to shop, walk around on Madsion & 5th in the 70s and 80s. Check out Joe Fresh - I was pretty blown away by the styles and prices. Otherwise, Lilly is at Madison and 79th.

    - There is a Lauduree on 74th and Lex but meh. They're not as fresh as macarons made in NYC.

    - I have other restaurant recs but email me for those, plenty on UES, plenty around the city, too. If you really want to do Girls Night Out in a big NYC way, go Meatpacking or LES. Spice Market in Meatpacking is a good group pick and Essex in LES is a good group pick (does group menu option too).

    - The last REALLY fun place I went out dancing was this dark sketchola place on the Lower East called Dark Room. NOT fancy but the music was insane. LES in general has lots of great places - Libation (location of Teddi Seven), Pianos, etc.

I could and will go on and on so I'll stop now and let this sink in :)

  2. Absolutely, positively, check out Beauty & Essex for dinner! Make a late reservation so that you can be there to go upstairs when it turns into a club. Make your reservations now though -- they fill up quickly! (PS - I went there in Feb with some gals and we got blow-outs before dinner and we also had our makeup done at the Chanel counter ... way fun!)
